Description:

• Mark Chem Super Shield membranes are made by saturating and coating a robust reinforcement of spun bonded in the range of 140-200 g/m2 non-woven polyester with a homogenous thermoplastic blend of APP (Attactic Polypropylene), distilled bitumen and stabilizers. The mixture is carefully produced under controlled conditions to ensure its stability at high temperatures and its flexibility at lower temperatures. Mark Chem Super Shield membranes are impermeable to water, easy to apply and maintain, with the option of a decorative finish for exposed use.

Uses:

• In the construction of single layer waterproofing system of flat roofs and pitched roofs and in infrastructure applications
• As a loose laid membrane over slip-sheet with side and end laps torched or hot air welded
• In regions where deformations are expected due to thermal stresses, where heavy uplifting is anticipated and is used in underground reservoirs, tunnels and engineering constructions
• Ideal for new and re-roofing projects, waterproofing on steel decks and wood support decks
• They are used on low slope concrete roofs, balconies, multi storied car parks, for lining sewerage canals, sub grade structures and any concrete or cemented flat surface that needs waterproofing

Typical Applications:
Surface Preparation:

• Surfaces onto which the membrane is to be applied must be sound, clean and dry
• Dust, loose material and protrusions must be removed and cracks, holes, etc., shall be made good

Priming:

• Apply one coat of Membrane Primer solvent-based bituminous primer to all surfaces at 5- 6 m²/liter and allow to dry
• Primed surfaces must be covered within the same day
• If left exposed for longer periods, clean and re-prime before applying the membrane

Membrane Applications:

• Position the rolls carefully with the correct orientation before the torching operation begin
• Heat the lower surface of the rolls with a propane gas torch and unroll as the bitumen begins to melt
• Maintain minimum 100 mm side laps and 150 mm end laps between rolls, staggering the joints where possible
• All seams must be heat sealed from the top to ensure watertight laps

Protection:

• Once laid, it is recommended to protect the membrane from long-term exposure, construction abuse and backfill, preferably within 24 hours.
• On vertical areas Expansion Board are recommended; on horizontal surfaces a minimum 25 mm thick sand cement screed may be used.

Packing:

• MARKCHEM SUPER SHIELD membranes are supplied in rolls of 1m X 10m, shrink wrapped on pallets. Rolls must be kept upright on pallets under shade. Pallets should not be stacked one over the other.

Precautions:

• There is no direct health hazards associated with MARKCHEM SUPER SHIELD. Normal precautions for hot and volatile substances should be observed during application. Refer to our MSDS sheets for advice.

LIQUID APPLIED SINGLE COMPONENT WATER BASED ELASTOMERIC WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE 

Description:

• Markproof Elastobond 100 is a highly elastic tough waterproofing system based on modified bitumen’s water based co-polymer. Markproof Elastobond 100 is highly resistant to aggressive soils and soluble salts providing an effective continuous barrier and protection against water Bourne damage. Markproof Elastobond 100 is ideally suited as a vapor/salt barrier to building facades behind granite, marble, stone cladding, and curtain wall elements.

Surface Preparation:

• All substrates must be sound, clean, dry, smooth and free from protrusions, voids, honey-combs and high spots
• Presence of curing agents, paint and oil will impair adhesion
• Moss and lichen must be removed and area treated with proprietary fungicidal wash to kill spores and inhibit further growth
• Following treatment wash area thoroughly with clean water and allow drying
• Fillets must be provided at corners or sharp angles using 4:1 sand and cement mortar modified with a good quality bonding agent

Priming:

• Priming is not normally required on good quality, well prepared substrates.
• Cracks: All shrinkage and non-structural cracks must be treated with not less than 1.5 mm coating of Markproof Elastobond 100 extending 75 mm either side of the crack. Allow to cure overnight prior to general application.

Application:

• Markproof Elastobond 100 should be applied by brush to obtain a continuous unbroken film
• Two coats are required with the second coat applied at right angles after the first coat has cured
• Markproof Elastobond 100 must be protected from mechanical damage during subsequent construction or backfilling works
• Any damage may be repaired by spot application
• If a water flood test is to be run, the membrane should cure for a minimum of 10 days
• Whilst Markproof Elastobond 100 is resistant to frost, adhesion will be impaired if applied to frosted substrates
• Application should be avoided if substrate temperatures are below 5oC or rain is imminent
• Cleaning: Application equipment should be thoroughly cleaned after use with water
• Spillages should be absorbed with sand, vermiculite or similar and be disposed of in accordance with local regulations

Storage & Shelf Life:

• Shelf life of 12 months in unopened containers when kept in dry conditions at a temperature between 5’C to 45’C. Storage at higher temperature or high humidity may reduce shelf life.

Health & Safety:

• MARKPROOF ELASTOBOND 100 should not come into contact with skin, eyes or be swallowed. Glasses, goggles and protective overalls should be worn during application. Refer Material Safety Data Sheet for further information.

MARKPROOF SEALCOAT 2C is a two component cementitious & acrylic flexible waterproofing & protective coating composed of best quality portaland cement, properly selected & graded aggregates, additives & acrylic emulsion polymer as a binder. It is applied to waterproof and protect concrete and similar structures. Specially formulated for swimming pools, retaining walls pile Heads, water tanks, submerged tunnels, sumps, bridge decks, marbles, granites and a wide variety of extreme service class structures because on curing it forms an excellent elastomeric, waterproof & protective layer over the substrate.

Typical Applications:
Surface Preparation:

• The surface must be strong & free from dirt, dust & loose particles. Thoroughly wire brush the surface & clean the dust by air compressor or wash the surface with water. Oil & grease must be removed using degreasing solvents. Any damaged surface must be repaired by using polymer modified repair mortar.

Mixing:

• Shake well the liquid component to a homogenous milky color, before mixing transfer entire quantity of liquid component into a suitable clean mixing vessel, gradually start addition of powder component under constant mixing with a stirrer using a pneumatic or electric power tool (1kw) at slow speed at 250 – 300 rpm for 3- 5 minutes to a homogeneous & uniform free flowing slurry

Application:

• Blinding Coverage: Apply slurry coat of mixed material for two coats at a coverage rate of 1.5 kg/m2 over the set concrete slab by a masonry brush or appropriate power spray equipment
• Concrete slabs or roof slabs: Two coat of mixed slurry to be applied to the set concrete @ 1.5 - 2kg/m2 by a masonry brush, roller or appropriate power spray equipment
• Pile Heads: Two coats of mixed slurry to be applied on to the pile head @ 0.75kg/m2 first coat and 1.25 to 1.5 kg/m2.
• Second coat either by a masonry brush or by appropriate power spray equipment
• Water tanks and Swimming pools: Two coat of MARKPROOF SEALCOAT 2C applied @ 1.5 kg/m2 each coat by a masonry brush or appropriate power spray equipment.
• All applications where two coats are specified, the second coat shall be applied when the first coat is completely dried.
• The treated area should be protected from direct sunlight and to be damp cured by covering with damp hessian or similar system
• Marbles/Stones: It is recommended to apply one coat at the bottom side of the marble @ 1.5 mm thick at a coverage of approximately 1.8 to 2 kg/m2

Precautions and Limitations:

• Mix the entire quantity of both the components at one go.
• Do not use powder with the liquid other than the powder accompanied with liquid, it will affect the Performance.
• Do not add water for dilution.

Dosage:

• Normal dosage range of MARKPLAST SP-40 is 0.8 to 2.1 % by weight over cementations materials including PFA, GGBFS and Micro silica/met kaolin. The optimum dosage to meet the specific requirement should always be determined by conducting trial mixes using the materials and conditions that will be experienced in use. Because of variations in job conditions, concrete materials and climatic conditions dosage rates may vary in such cases, contact our CC (Construction chemicals) representative.

Effect of Overdosage:

• An overdosing of MARKPLAST SP-40 can result in the following:
• Delay of initial & final set of concrete.
• Increase in plastic shrinkage.
• Increase in air entrainment.
• Severe bleed & segregation of mix
• Due to slight overdosing of MARKPLAST SP-40 the ultimate compressive strength of concrete cannot be get affected, providing it is properly compacted & cured. Due allowance should be made for the effect of fluid concrete pressure on formwork, & stripping time should be monitored.

Direction for Use:

• Stir well the material before use.
• MARKPLAST SP-40is ready to use liquid which is dispensed in to the concrete together with the mixing water.
• The dispersion effect is higher if it is added to the damp concrete after 60 to 70% of mixing water has been added.
• Not recommended to add in dry aggregates and cement.

Workability:

• MARKPLAST SP-40will retain the workability of concrete approx. up to 2 hrs. @250C. It retains the workability of concrete in proportion to the amount of product dosage used for trials. The workability loss is dependent on factors such as temperature, type of cement, type of aggregate, the initial workability of mix and methods of transportation of concrete etc.
